Tragic Road Accident in Prayagraj: 10 Devotees Killed in SUV-Bus Collision

Prayagraj, February 15 – A head-on collision between an SUV and a bus late Friday night on the Yamuna Nagar Highway in Meja police station area resulted in the death of 10 people, police confirmed.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vivek Chandra Yadav, the victims were pilgrims from Korba, Chhattisgarh, traveling in an SUV to attend the Mahakumbh Snan in Prayagraj. However, their journey turned tragic when their vehicle collided with a bus carrying other devotees coming from Prayagraj.

All 10 occupants of the SUV lost their lives on the spot, while passengers on the bus suffered minor injuries. Emergency services rushed to the scene, and the injured were provided immediate medical attention.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep sorrow over the incident and extended condolences to the bereaved families. In a post on social media platform ‘X’, the Chief Minister’s office stated:

"CM Yogi Adityanath has expressed profound grief over the loss of lives in the Prayagraj-Mirzapur highway accident and has directed district officials to ensure immediate medical treatment for the injured."

The Chief Minister also prayed for the peace of the departed souls and speedy recovery of the injured. Authorities have launched an investigation into the accident to determine the cause and prevent future incidents.
