Hathras, February 14 – In a tragic incident near Jarehra village in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras district, four members of a family, including two children, lost their lives after their car plunged into a canal late Thursday night, police officials confirmed on Friday.
According to the police, the accident occurred while the family was returning to Jalesar in Etah district from a wedding ceremony in Aligarh. The vehicle lost control near Jarehra village, veering off the road and into the canal.
Superintendent of Police Chiranjeev Nath Sinha identified the deceased as Bablu (45), his brother’s wife Poonam (35), and her two daughters—Kavya (3) and Bhumi (1).
Five others sustained injuries and were rushed to the Sikandra Rao Community Health Center for treatment. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination.
Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the accident, while local residents have urged for improved road safety measures in the area.
