Social Media Influencer Ranveer Allahbadia Moves Supreme Court Over FIRs on Alleged Obscene Remarks
New Delhi, February 14 – Social media influencer Ranveer Allahbadia has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking relief against multiple FIRs lodged across the country over his alleged obscene remarks made during a YouTube show.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar took note of the arguments presented by Allahbadia's counsel, Abhinav Chandrachud, who urged for an urgent hearing. The court assured that the matter would be listed within two to three days.
Chandrachud emphasized that Allahbadia had been summoned by Assam Police on Friday, prompting the need for an immediate hearing.
The influencer has been facing severe backlash for his controversial comments about parents and sexual relationships, which have sparked public outrage. Multiple complaints and FIRs have been lodged against him in different states, with critics calling his remarks offensive and inappropriate.
The Supreme Court's decision in the coming days will determine whether Allahbadia gets legal relief against the ongoing legal proceedings or if he will have to appear before various state police authorities for questioning.
