Vasant Panchami Celebration Turns Tragic as Two Youths Drown During Idol Immersion in Gondal

Rajkot – A Vasant Panchami celebration in Gundasara village, Gondal taluka, took a tragic turn as two young laborers drowned while immersing the idol of Goddess Saraswati in a check dam. The joyful atmosphere of the festival soon turned into mourning.

According to reports, the Supreme Cast Factory in Gundasara had installed a Saraswati idol for the Vasant Panchami celebration on Monday. The festival was observed with great enthusiasm, and the idol immersion was planned for Tuesday. Around 10 to 15 people, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of drums, proceeded towards the nearby check dam for the ritual.

During the immersion, Aman Kumar Gautam Rai (23), a resident of Simaria, Jagalpur district, Bihar, and Kumar Gaurav Subhash Malahar (20), a resident of Dariyapur, Jagalpur district, Bihar, ventured into the deeper section of the water body and started drowning. Despite desperate attempts by their companions to rescue them, both succumbed to the waters and lost their lives.

Upon receiving information about the incident, the factory owner rushed to the site and immediately alerted local police and the fire department. The fire brigade successfully retrieved the bodies, which were later sent for post-mortem. Meanwhile, the police have registered a case and initiated further investigation into the unfortunate incident.
