Noida: Tenant Arrested for Murder of Delhi-Based Doctor in Rental Dispute
Noida, January 30 – A tenant has been arrested for the murder of a Delhi-based doctor, allegedly over accusations of misconduct with the tenant’s girlfriend, police confirmed on Thursday.
Case Details
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Shakti Mohan Awasthi stated that Dr. Dinesh Gaur (50), a resident of Kundli, Delhi, owned a house in Sanjay Vihar Colony, Kulesara village, Greater Noida. On January 23, he rented out a room in his house to Imtiaz, a native of Kushinagar, and his female companion.
Accused’s Confession
During interrogation, Imtiaz revealed that on the night of January 25, Dr. Gaur, in an inebriated state, allegedly called him and his girlfriend to his room. Imtiaz claimed that the doctor was sending him out of the room repeatedly under various pretexts and misbehaving with his girlfriend in his absence.
Upon noticing this, Imtiaz confronted the doctor, leading to a heated altercation. He sent his girlfriend upstairs and, in a fit of rage, attacked the doctor with a hammer, knocking him unconscious. He then used a surgical blade to fatally assault him.
Aftermath & Arrest
- Following the incident, Imtiaz and his girlfriend fled the scene.
- On Wednesday evening, the police arrested Imtiaz.
- He was produced in court on Thursday, where he was remanded to 14 days of judicial custody.
Background of the Accused
- Imtiaz (44) has six children, while his 32-year-old girlfriend has two children.
- The two had separated from their families and were living together for the past two years.
- They had met in Pune and later moved to Greater Noida in search of employment.
- Dr. Gaur had reportedly promised to help them find jobs.

Police have registered a murder case, and investigations are underway. The role of Imtiaz’s female companion is also under scrutiny.
