Gold Theft in Rajkot: Police Solve Case with Help of Sniffer Dog Jackson
Rajkot, January 17 – A daring robbery in the Kanakia Plot area of Jetpur, Rajkot, involving stolen gold ornaments worth ₹1.2 lakh, has been solved with the assistance of police sniffer dog Jackson. Two suspects were arrested and presented in court, where they were remanded for two days.
The Incident
On January 2, unidentified individuals broke into the locked home of a laborer family in Kanakia Plot, Jetpur, and stole gold ornaments, including:
A 2.5 tola gold necklace (₹75,000),
A 0.5 tola gold ring (₹15,000),
Two pairs of gold earrings (₹30,000).
The total estimated value of the theft was ₹1.2 lakh.
Investigation and Breakthrough
Initial investigations, including CCTV footage analysis, provided no leads. The Rajkot police then called in their trusted sniffer dog, Jackson. The dog led the police to the residence of Vanrajbhai Mansukhbhai Sarvaiya, a local resident near the crime scene. Upon interrogation using advanced techniques, Vanraj confessed to the crime and revealed that he had handed over the stolen jewelry to his accomplice, Yuvrajbhai Moya.
Recovery of Stolen Items
Yuvraj had pawned the stolen gold at Muthoot Finance to secure a gold loan. Police recovered the stolen items from the finance office. Both suspects were arrested, and the stolen valuables were returned to the victim. The accused were later presented in court, which granted a two-day remand for further questioning.
How They Spent the Loot
Yuvraj used the loan money from the stolen jewelry to play online games but lost all the funds.
Vanraj used part of the money to rent a car for a joyride and vacationed in Diu.
Police Statement
Rajkot police have confirmed that the two suspects were habitual offenders. With the help of sniffer dog Jackson and a coordinated investigation, the case was swiftly resolved. The arrests and recovery of stolen items have provided relief to the affected family.
