Indian-American Vivek Ramaswamy Reportedly Plans to Run for Ohio Governor

Washington, January 18 – Indian-American leader Vivek Ramaswamy is reportedly preparing to run for the Governor of Ohio in the upcoming elections, according to multiple media reports on Friday.

Ramaswamy, who previously contested for the Republican Party's nomination in the U.S. presidential race, later withdrew from the contest. He is known to have close ties with newly-elected President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance. Trump has entrusted Ramaswamy with collaborating with Tesla CEO Elon Musk on governance reforms.

According to a report by The Washington Post, sources familiar with the matter revealed that Ramaswamy plans to announce his gubernatorial bid soon.

Official Announcement Expected

A close associate of Ramaswamy, speaking on the condition of anonymity, stated, “He (Ramaswamy) will soon announce his candidacy for the Governor of Ohio. The announcement draft is ready.”

If elected, Ramaswamy would succeed Ohio's current Governor, Mike DeWine. The gubernatorial election in Ohio is scheduled for November 2026.
