Mumbai – Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was injured in a knife attack at his Bandra residence late Wednesday night, allegedly during an attempted robbery. Khan, 54, underwent surgery at Lilavati Hospital and is now recovering, his representatives confirmed.
The incident occurred at around 2:30 AM in the Satguru Sharan building on the 12th floor. The assailant fled the scene before police arrived, and no arrests have been made yet, authorities said.
Condition Stable After Surgery
In an official statement, Khan’s team said, “Saif Ali Khan underwent surgery and is now out of danger. Doctors are monitoring his recovery closely. All family members are safe, and the police are investigating the matter.”
The hospital's COO, Dr. Neeraj Uttamani, revealed that the actor sustained six knife wounds, with two deep injuries, one near the spine. A medical team led by neurosurgeon Dr. Nitin Dange and cosmetic surgeon Dr. Leena Jain successfully operated on him.
Khan’s left wrist also bore a severe cut, according to Dr. Uttamani. “His recovery is progressing well,” the medical team assured.
Family and Representatives Respond
Khan’s wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, released a statement: “An attempted robbery occurred at our home last night. Saif has been injured and is under medical care. We urge everyone to remain calm and avoid speculation as the police investigate.”
The family extended gratitude to fans for their support and prayers during this difficult time. Kapoor’s statement also thanked the medical team for their timely assistance.
Saif’s public relations team echoed the family’s sentiments, requesting patience and assuring that updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
Police Investigation Underway
Initial reports suggest an unidentified individual broke into the actor’s home, leading to a scuffle during which Khan was injured. Some family members were reportedly present in the house during the incident.
A senior police official said the attacker fled before officers arrived. When asked about the motive, including whether robbery was the intent, the official refrained from providing further details, citing the ongoing investigation.
The Bandra police have registered a case and are reviewing CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify the suspect.
