Rajkot Reels Under Crime Wave as Four Murders Rock City in One Week

Rajkot is witnessing a shocking surge in criminal activities as four murders have been reported within a week, with two of them taking place within a span of four hours.

On Monday evening, a 36-year-old man named Salim Odia was fatally stabbed in the Ganjiwada area by a group of six assailants. The murder appears to be rooted in a years-old dispute, with the victim having had an illicit relationship with the mother of one of the attackers. Police arrested four suspects, Abid, Avesh, Anees, and Arbaaz, in connection with the case.

In another brutal incident, a 50-year-old garlic trader named Sajid Antaria was murdered near the Bhari Raah Lottery Bazar over a monetary dispute. Four individuals, Shabbir, Taufiq, Rafiq, and Arif, have been accused of attacking and killing Antaria. His nephew was also injured while attempting to intervene. The A Division police have registered a case of murder against the four suspects and are conducting raids to apprehend them.

These recent killings add to the two other murders that occurred earlier in the week, highlighting the concerning rise in violent crime in Rajkot. A 63-year-old man was strangled to death, while another young man was killed over a trivial matter of overtaking a car. The series of murders underscores the urgent need to address the deteriorating law and order situation in the city.
