Ahmedabad, April 25, 2023: Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA) is undergoing significant renovations to enhance passenger experience and expand the security hold area of the departure terminal. The upgrades come as a response to the rapidly growing passenger traffic, with the airport recently reaching a milestone of 10 million passengers.
The renovation project focuses on the security hold area at level 1, aiming to improve facilities and amenities to accommodate the increasing demand. As part of the ongoing work, the baby-care room and smoking lounge will also be revamped.
SVPIA has witnessed exponential growth in aircraft movement and passengers, leading to ongoing efforts to boost connectivity and improve customer experience through infrastructural development. The reengineering will increase the area within the terminal by an additional 11,000 square meters, allowing for more facilities such as an upgraded baby-care room, smoking lounge, a wider selection of food and beverage outlets, national and international branded retail outlets, and an increased seating area to meet global standards.
The renovation and expansion of the first floor at Terminal 1 are expected to be completed within three months, giving the terminal a fresh and modern look. However, passengers will have access to some essential services within a month.
