Raj Kapoor Centennial Film Festival Extended Till December 19 Due to Public Demand
New Delhi – The Film Heritage Foundation (FHF) announced on Sunday that the ongoing film festival celebrating the centennial of legendary actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor has been extended till December 19, 2024, following overwhelming public demand.
Originally planned as a three-day event from December 14 to 15 to commemorate Raj Kapoor’s 100th birth anniversary, the festival will now run for an additional four days.
FHF shared the update on social media platform X, stating, "Due to public demand, the dates have been extended! 'Raj Kapoor 100' will now continue until December 19, 2024."
Showcasing Iconic Classics
The festival features five of Raj Kapoor's most iconic films, including Awara, Shree 420, Sangam, Mera Naam Joker, and Bobby. These timeless classics will be screened in select theaters across the country, allowing audiences to relive the cinematic magic of the legendary showman.
Additionally, other landmark films such as Aag, Barsaat, Jaagte Raho, Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai, and Ram Teri Ganga Maili are also part of the extended celebrations.
A Tribute by Generations
Raj Kapoor's grandson, actor Ranbir Kapoor, had announced the Raj Kapoor 100 festival last month at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa. The extension of the festival reflects the continued love and admiration for Raj Kapoor's unparalleled contribution to Indian cinema.
Audiences now have more time to immerse themselves in the rich legacy of the man known as the "Showman of Bollywood."
