Six Dead, Seven Injured in Road Accident in Chhattisgarh's Balod District

Balod, December 16 – A tragic road accident claimed the lives of six people, including four women and a seven-year-old child, while seven others sustained serious injuries in Chhattisgarh's Balod district, officials reported on Monday.

The Incident

The accident occurred late Sunday night near Chorhapadaw village in the Dondi police station area when a truck collided with a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). The victims were returning to their village after attending a naming ceremony in Dondi.

The deceased have been identified as Durpat Prajapati (30), Sumitra Bai (50), Manisha Kumbhakar (35), Sagun Bai (50), Emla Bai (55), and a seven-year-old boy, Jignesh.

Rescue and Relief Operations

Upon receiving information about the accident, police dispatched a team to the site to rescue the injured and retrieve the bodies. The injured were initially taken to Dondi Community Health Center for primary treatment and later referred to Rajnandgaon District Hospital for further care.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities confirmed that a case has been registered, and an investigation into the incident is underway to determine the cause of the collision.

This tragic accident has cast a pall over the Gurda village community, where the victims hailed from.
