Young Hero's Legacy: 9-Year-Old's Organ Donation Saves Six Lives
Antala Family's Courageous Decision Inspires Community
Surat: A rare and incredible act of organ donation took place in Surat when the Antala family from Puna village chose to donate six organs of their 9-year-old brain dead son, Aarav. The brave decision not only showcased the family's humanity but also provided a new lease on life for six patients in need.
Aarav Antala, a class-4 student, sustained a head injury while playing on April 9. Despite the best efforts of doctors at AIIMS Hospital in Simada, Surat, Aarav was declared brain dead three days later. The medical team informed the family about the possibility of organ donation, and Aarav's parents, Kiranben and Nayanbhai, made the compassionate decision to donate his organs.
The Antala family's selfless act resulted in the successful transplantation of Aarav's liver, two kidneys, lungs, and two eyes. His lungs were transported to MGM Hospital in Chennai, while the liver and kidneys were sent to Ahmedabad. Due to the small size of Aarav's heart, a transplant could not be performed.
Nileshbhai Mandlewala, founder of the Donate Life organization, assisted the family in completing the organ donation process in accordance with Soto guidelines. The Antala family's decision to donate their son's organs in their darkest hour has inspired the community and demonstrated the profound impact of organ donation.
