Telugu Actor Allu Arjun Released on Interim Bail After Arrest in Stampede Incident

Hyderabad, December 14 – Telugu actor Allu Arjun was released from Chanchalguda Jail on Saturday following interim bail granted by the Telangana High Court. The actor was arrested in connection with a stampede that occurred during the premiere of his film Pushpa 2: The Rule, which resulted in the death of a woman and injuries to her son.

Delay in Release

Despite the High Court’s order for bail, Allu Arjun spent Friday night in jail as authorities reportedly did not receive the official copy of the bail order until late. Arjun's lawyer, Ashok Reddy, criticized the delay, calling it an "illegal detention."

Speaking to reporters outside the jail, Reddy said, "The High Court order was clear and immediate action should have been taken. The delay is unacceptable, and we will take legal action against the responsible parties."

Special Category Detention

According to Reddy, Allu Arjun was held as a "special category prisoner" during his time in custody. The 42-year-old actor returned to his home after his release, where he was greeted warmly by family members.

Arrest and Charges

Allu Arjun was arrested early Friday morning from his residence. Following his arrest, he was presented before a local court and placed in judicial custody for 14 days. However, his legal team secured interim bail later in the day.

The charges stem from a stampede during the Pushpa 2 premiere on December 4 at Sandhya Theater in Hyderabad. A large crowd gathered to catch a glimpse of the actor, leading to chaos that claimed the life of 35-year-old Revathi and left her eight-year-old son injured.

The Hyderabad police registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theater management under Sections 105 and 118(1) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) based on a complaint filed by the deceased woman’s family.

Increased Security at Actor’s Residence

Following his release, the Hyderabad police have beefed up security outside Allu Arjun's residence to manage potential crowds of fans eager to show their support for the actor.

Background of the Incident

The stampede during the premiere has sparked a broader discussion about crowd control at high-profile events in Hyderabad. Critics have called for stricter safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
