Supreme Court Collegium Recommends Appointment of Seven Permanent Judges in Three High Courts

New Delhi, December 13 – The Supreme Court Collegium, led by Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna, has recommended the appointment of seven additional judges as permanent judges across three high courts. The decision was taken during a meeting held on December 12, which included Justice B.R. Gavai and Justice Surya Kant as members.

Recommendations Approved

The Collegium has approved the following appointments:

Punjab and Haryana High Court:

Justice Harpreet Singh Brar has been recommended for elevation as a permanent judge.

Karnataka High Court:

The Collegium has approved the appointment of three additional judges as permanent judges:
Justice Ramachandra Dattatraya Huddar
Justice Venkatesh Naik T.
Justice Vijaykumar A. Patil

Delhi High Court:

Two additional judges, Justice Shalinder Kaur and Justice Ravinder Dudeja, have been recommended for appointment as permanent judges.
A Step Toward Strengthening Judiciary

These appointments aim to bolster judicial capacity and address the increasing case backlog in these high courts. The recommendations now await final approval by the President of India, following the required administrative processes.
