Kapoor Family Celebrates Raj Kapoor’s Birth Centenary with Grand Film Festival

Mumbai, December 13 – The Kapoor family, including actor Randhir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, and Ranbir Kapoor, gathered on Friday to commemorate the birth centenary of legendary actor and filmmaker Raj Kapoor, fondly known as the “Showman” of Hindi cinema.

The event witnessed the presence of luminaries like actress Rekha and filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, among others, adding to the celebratory spirit of the occasion.

Screenings of Raj Kapoor’s Iconic Films

Marking 100 years since Raj Kapoor's birth, a three-day film festival has been organized to showcase his cinematic legacy. On the eve of his centenary, five of his iconic films—Awara, Shree 420, Sangam, Mera Naam Joker, and Bobby—were screened at multiplexes across Mumbai suburbs.

During the festival, a total of 10 of Raj Kapoor’s masterpieces will be showcased, including Aag, Barsaat, Awara, Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai, Sangam, Mera Naam Joker, Bobby, and Ram Teri Ganga Maili.

Nationwide Tribute

The films will be screened at select PVR Inox theaters in 40 cities, allowing fans across India to relive the magic of Raj Kapoor’s cinema.

Raj Kapoor, revered as a pioneer of Indian cinema, left an indelible mark through his thought-provoking narratives and memorable performances. This centenary celebration pays homage to his timeless contribution to Hindi cinema, ensuring his legacy continues to inspire generations.
