Four-Storey Vacant Building Partially Collapses in Bhendi Bazaar, Mumbai
Mumbai, December 13 – A four-storey vacant building partially collapsed late Thursday night in South Mumbai's Bhendi Bazaar area, officials confirmed. No casualties have been reported in the incident.
The structure, located near Khoja Jamaat Khana on Nishanpada Road, collapsed around 12:30 a.m. Fire brigade officials and rescue teams promptly arrived at the scene to clear the debris.
Initial reports suggest that the building was in a dilapidated condition and had been vacated due to safety concerns, ensuring there were no residents inside at the time of the collapse.
Five fire engines were dispatched to assist in the rescue and clearance operation. Additionally, the local police arrived to maintain law and order as a large crowd of onlookers gathered near the site.
Authorities have urged residents to avoid the area as cleanup efforts continue. The incident highlights ongoing challenges in maintaining aging structures in densely populated areas like Bhendi Bazaar. Further investigations are underway to assess the structural integrity of nearby buildings.
