PM Modi Lauds Young Innovators, Reaffirms Commitment to 'Developed India' at Smart India Hackathon 2024
New Delhi, December 11 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the Grand Finale of the Smart India Hackathon 2024 via video conference, praised young innovators for their dedication to solving India's pressing challenges. He expressed confidence that their efforts demonstrate the country’s steady progress toward becoming a ‘Developed India.’
Youth as Innovators and Problem-Solvers
Speaking to the participating teams, PM Modi acknowledged the role of knowledge and innovation in shaping the future. He said, "You are India’s hope and aspiration. Today, the world recognizes India’s strength—our youth, their innovative spirit, and our technological prowess."
The Prime Minister noted that the innovative solutions developed through hackathons in recent years have been instrumental in addressing key national challenges, with many now being used effectively across the country.
Tackling Cybercrime and Drone Threats
Addressing a team working on cybersecurity solutions, Modi emphasized the increasing threat of cybercrime, particularly in the context of India’s burgeoning digital economy. "As India emerges as a leading digital economy, the risks associated with cybercrime grow. Your efforts in this area are critical for securing our digital future," he said.
He also highlighted the dual use of drones in delivering essential supplies to remote areas and their exploitation by enemies for smuggling arms and drugs. Applauding the youth tackling such challenges, Modi said, "It’s heartening to see your dedication in finding innovative solutions to these threats. I congratulate you on your commitment."
Encouraging Youth to Build a Developed India
Prime Minister Modi described the youth as the torchbearers of India’s aspirations and urged them to take ownership of building a developed nation. "Your unique perspectives and energy have a singular goal—to make India the most innovative, progressive, and prosperous nation in the world. The responsibility of shaping ‘Developed India’ rests on your shoulders," he added.
He assured the youth of the government’s unwavering support in providing timely resources and infrastructure to help them achieve their goals.
Participation in the Hackathon
The Smart India Hackathon 2024 saw participation from over 1,300 student teams from across the country. The event aimed to foster innovation and creativity while addressing real-world challenges through technology.
PM Modi concluded by reiterating his faith in the young innovators and their ability to lead India toward a bright and progressive future.
