Sanjay Mishra Expresses Gratitude for Directors Who Believed in His Versatility
Mumbai, December 8: Renowned actor Sanjay Mishra, celebrated for his comic roles in Bollywood, has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to filmmakers who provided him opportunities to explore diverse roles beyond comedy. In an industry often typecasting actors, Mishra acknowledged directors like Rajat Kapoor and Subhash Kapoor for breaking the mold.
Known for his memorable comic performances in films like Golmaal: Fun Unlimited, Dhamaal, All the Best: Fun Begins, Bunty Aur Babli, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and 3, Mishra has also showcased his acting prowess in critically acclaimed movies like Ankhon Dekhi, Masaan, Vadh, and Bhakshak.
In an interview with PTI, Mishra said, "Filmmakers like Rajat Kapoor (Ankhon Dekhi) and Subhash Kapoor (Phas Gaye Re Obama) trusted me with roles that allowed me to showcase my versatility. However, most directors in the industry tend to assign actors repetitive roles. For instance, if a director needs a certain type of comic performance, they approach actors like Johnny Lever or me."
Mishra cited the late actor Mehmood as an example, who, despite being known for his comedic roles, created impactful films like Kunwara Baap to deliver serious societal messages. "If you don’t seize opportunities, how will things change?" Mishra asked.
Remaining committed to taking on diverse roles, Mishra will soon appear in the upcoming film Jaiye Aap Kahaan Jayenge. The fictional film tells the story of Kishan, played by Karan Anand, who invents a mobile toilet rickshaw to address societal issues, especially those affecting women. Mishra plays Kishan’s father, a supportive figure in his journey.
Presented by Fun Entertainment and Purajit Productions, the film is produced by Hanwant Khatri and co-produced by Purajit Productions. After premiering on Prasar Bharati's new OTT platform Waves2, the movie is set to hit theaters on December 20.
