Surat : Residents Fear Disease Spread Due to Contaminated Water Supply
Discolored and Foul-Smelling Water Reported in Various Areas of the City
Surat - Over the past several days, residents in different zones of Surat city have reported discolored and contaminated water, causing growing concern among the local population. The situation has been particularly problematic in areas such as Pandesara, Rander, and Udhna, with people complaining of red or yellow colored water accompanied by a foul smell.
Rumors about contaminated water coming from different zones of the Surat Municipal Corporation have been circulating for some time, with officials attributing the issue to leakage in drinking water lines. However, the widespread nature of the problem suggests that there may be another underlying issue.
Despite the release of water from the Ukai dam, which was intended to alleviate the problem, the situation has not improved. Reports of contaminated and discolored water persist, leading to fears of water-borne diseases spreading among the local population.
When questioned about the issue, authorities defended themselves by claiming that the contaminated water is a result of leakage in the water supply line and that the water provided by the municipality is not the problem. However, the occurrence of the issue across multiple zones raises questions about the true cause of the contamination, and whether more extensive action is needed to address the problem.
