Rajkot Man Succumbs to Injuries After Attack Over Minor Issue
Honking Dispute Turns Fatal as Victim Dies 15 Days Later
Rajkot - A man who was brutally attacked 15 days ago over a minor issue like honking has succumbed to his injuries, turning the case into a murder investigation. The injured man, Parag Patel (39), was hit on the head with an iron rod during the dispute, and despite being admitted to the hospital for treatment, passed away on Saturday.
The tragic incident has spread a wave of mourning in the Patel family. The police have now added a murder section to the complaint of assault that was previously filed at the Bhaktinagar police station.
Naginbhai Gondalia (65), Parag's father, had initially filed a complaint against Ismail alias Munnaf Kasam Qureshi for attempted murder and assault. According to the complaint, on April 5, Naginbhai was having lunch at home when he was informed by a neighbor that his son, Parag, was involved in a fight with Qureshi. Naginbhai rushed outside to find Qureshi attacking Parag, and although he tried to intervene, Qureshi struck Parag on the head and forehead with an iron rod, causing severe bleeding.
The dispute began when Parag honked at Qureshi, who was driving slowly and not moving aside. Instead of pulling over, Parag overtook Qureshi, which led to a heated exchange and eventually the violent attack. Qureshi fled the scene after the assault, and Parag was taken to a private hospital for treatment where he underwent surgery.
Following Parag's death on Saturday, his body was sent for post-mortem examination, and the police are now investigating the case as a murder. Parag's untimely death has left his parents without their only son and his two children without their father.
