Rajkot Police Solve Palace Road Jewelry Theft
Employee Betrays Owner, Executes Heist in Film-Style
Rajkot: A theft of gold worth more than Rs 13 lakhs and cash over Rs 40 thousand from SN Ornaments, a jewelry shop located at Rajshringi Apartment, Palace Road, has been solved by the police. The investigation revealed the involvement of an employee, leading to his arrest and further action by the LCB Zone 1 team.
The accused, Sheikh Nasruddin Saidul Ismail, was one of four artisans working at the shop. The owner, who shares the same Bengali origin as the accused, had hired him with trust, only to be betrayed. The investigation found that the shop's lock was intact and no vandalism was reported, but the CCTV DVR had been stolen to avoid detection.
The thief had executed the heist in a film-style manner, capitalizing on his knowledge of a broken window grill at the rear of the shop. He had been working at the shop for two months and had been waiting for a large jewelry-making order to be placed. On the day of the incident, he left the premises on a pretext and hid in the complex with a rope bought from the market.
The police questioned the artisans and soon grew suspicious of the accused. The LCB Zone 2 team checked over 80 CCTV cameras near the accused's residence, nearby shops, and other locations. The crime at Palace Road was eventually solved using technical and human resources. The police have arrested the accused and are taking further action after seizing all the stolen goods.
