Drug Bust in Ahmedabad’s Naranpura: ₹25 Lakh Worth of Drugs Seized, Six Arrested
Ahmedabad, November 20: In a late-night raid on Tuesday, the Special Operations Group (SOG) seized drugs worth ₹25.68 lakh from a posh housing society in Naranpura, Ahmedabad. The operation follows the interception of a significant drug shipment off Gujarat's coast a few days earlier. Six individuals, reportedly linked to Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, have been arrested in connection with the case.
According to SOG’s CCP Jayrajsinh Vala, a tip-off revealed that Fatehwadi resident Mustakim Sheikh, involved in the MD drug trade, had ordered a large consignment from Mohammad Khan of Madhya Pradesh. The drugs were to be delivered to Elephanta Society in Naranpura. Acting on this intelligence, the SOG team raided the flat of Jignesh Pandya late on Tuesday night.
The raid led to the seizure of a substantial quantity of drugs, confirmed to be MD (mephedrone) following forensic analysis. The arrested individuals include Mohammad Khan, Mustakim alias Bhuro, Dhruv Patel, Mohammad Ejaz Sheikh, Abrar Khan Pathan, and Jignesh Pandya. A Scorpio vehicle used in the operation was also confiscated.
Initial interrogation revealed that the drug consignment was procured from Sameer, a drug mafia based in Rajasthan. The SOG is actively investigating the inter-state network involved in the supply and distribution of the drugs.
The case highlights the increasing involvement of organized syndicates in drug trafficking, and further investigations are underway to uncover more links in this network.
