Delhi Air Quality Deteriorates to 'Severe Plus,' Smog Blankets the Capital
New Delhi, November 19: Residents of the national capital woke up to another smog-filled morning on Tuesday as air pollution levels worsened despite multiple efforts to curb it. Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) reached the 'Severe Plus' category, with an average AQI of 494 recorded. Some areas in North Delhi reported AQI levels exceeding 500, including North Campus.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), key areas such as Anand Vihar, Ashok Vihar, Bawana, Jahangirpuri, and Major Dhyan Chand Stadium reported AQI levels above 450, indicating extremely hazardous air quality.
The dense smog has also led to reduced visibility across Delhi, causing significant disruptions to transportation. Reports indicate delays in at least 22 trains and the cancellation of nine others on Tuesday morning. Several flights were also delayed or canceled due to poor visibility.

The city remains engulfed in hazardous air, with visibility issues continuing to disrupt daily life.
On Monday, the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage 4 was implemented in Delhi. As part of these measures, schools in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Hapur, and Meerut have been closed, with classes now being conducted online to ensure the safety of students.
