13-Year-Old Student Seriously Injured in Surat Road Accident, Dump Truck Driver Arrested
Surat – A road accident in the city’s Pal area has once again highlighted the dangers of reckless driving. A 13-year-old student was severely injured after being hit by a dump truck that ran a red light. The incident was captured on CCTV, showing the truck driver violating traffic signals and colliding with the student.
The victim, Vedant, a Class 8 student of L.P. Savani International School on Gaurav Path Road, was on his way to tuition on his bicycle. As he reached the Apex Hospital crossroads on Pal Gaurav Path Road, a speeding dump truck (GJ-21-W-2747) struck him. The impact left Vedant with serious injuries, including a deep wound on his right thigh and scratches on his forehead.
Pal police have registered a case and arrested the dump truck driver, who attempted to flee the scene after the accident. According to the police, the driver ignored the red light, leading to the collision. CCTV footage helped the authorities identify and apprehend the accused.
Road accidents in Surat are on the rise, particularly due to negligence by dump truck drivers. Local residents have urged the administration to take strict action against reckless driving.
K.L. Gadhe, Inspector at Pal Police Station, confirmed the registration of the case and the driver’s arrest. He assured that a thorough investigation is underway and strict action will be taken against the guilty party.
