Surat: 10 New Volvo Buses Launched by Gujarat State Transport Corporation
Surat: In a special event at Surat’s Y Junction, Union Minister of Jal Shakti C.R. Patil, along with State Transport and Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi, and State Forest and Environment Minister Mukeshbhai Patel, flagged off 10 new advanced Volvo buses of the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC). The new buses will operate routes connecting Surat to Ahmedabad, Vadodara, and Rajkot. The ministers handed over the keys to the Volvo bus drivers and wished them success.
During the event, Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi stated that the new ST Corporation Volvo buses, launched during the Diwali festive season, are designed to offer maximum comfort at minimal cost to the state's citizens. He emphasized that these buses would enable passengers to travel safely and comfortably to their hometowns with their families. He also mentioned that the state government plans to introduce more buses in the coming days, enhancing connectivity between villages and cities for the comfort and welfare of citizens.
The minister also highlighted the importance of responsible behavior from citizens in maintaining the smooth operation of these modern, high-tech buses. He noted that keeping these buses clean is a shared responsibility of every passenger. To experience the comfort firsthand, the Home Minister and Forest Minister took a ride in one of the Volvo buses.
The newly launched Volvo buses are fully air-conditioned, 13.5 meters long, and have a seating capacity of 47 passengers. They are equipped with push-back seats, fire safety and alarm systems, CCTV cameras, emergency exit stairs, panic buttons, and mobile charging facilities.
The event saw the presence of MLA Praveen Ghoghari, Managing Director of the ST Department Anupam Anand, ST Corporation Secretary Ravi Nirmal, Surat ST Divisional Director P.V. Gurjar, and other officials and staff of the ST Department.
