Gandhinagar: CM Bhupendra Patel Urges Local Officials to Resolve Grievances at District Level
Gandhinagar, October 24: Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel emphasized the importance of resolving public grievances at the local level, urging district collectors and District Development Officers (DDOs) to ensure that most issues are addressed at the tehsil or district level. This approach, he stated, would reduce the need for citizens to bring their problems to the state-level SWAGAT (State Wide Attention on Grievances by Application of Technology) program in Gandhinagar.
The Chief Minister highlighted that local administration can effectively resolve issues like land verification certificates for farmers and removal of encroachments on public roads within the district SWAGAT platform, which would spare rural residents from traveling to Gandhinagar for the state-level program. During Thursday's session of the online grievance redressal program, CM Patel listened to applicants' issues and provided directives to collectors, DDOs, and relevant departments for swift and appropriate resolutions. Matters such as urban development, revenue, roads, buildings, compensation for land acquisition for Narmada projects, and removal of illegal constructions were discussed.
In addition, the Chief Minister directed district administrations to take strict action on issues related to unauthorized constructions and errors in land measurement.
Held monthly on the fourth Thursday under the Chief Minister’s leadership, the SWAGAT program reviewed 12 grievances this Thursday. Out of 2,732 grievances submitted at the state, district, tehsil, and village levels in October, a satisfactory resolution was achieved in 54.76% of cases. Present at the Gandhinagar session were CM Patel’s Additional Chief Secretaries, Pankaj Joshi and M.K. Das, as well as Secretary Avantika Singh and senior officials from the Chief Minister's Office. District officials, including collectors and DDOs, participated through video conferencing.
