Surat and Rajkot Airports to Expand Flight Connectivity with New Domestic and International Routes

Surat: In a significant development for air travel in Gujarat, the major cities of Surat and Rajkot are set to experience an expansion in their flight connectivity. Both airports have announced their winter flight schedules, which include the launch of several new domestic and international routes.

Surat International Airport will introduce flights to eight new destinations, including Sharjah, Dubai, Goa, Chennai, Bhavnagar, Mundra, Jamnagar, Jodhpur, and Bhuj. This move is expected to play a crucial role in boosting trade and tourism in Surat. Notably, the launch of direct flights to Bangkok will offer Surat's residents convenient access to this popular Southeast Asian tourist destination.

Air India Express plans to start Surat-Bangkok-Surat flights, operating four days a week. In addition, the airline will also introduce a Chennai-Surat-Chennai flight, further enhancing connectivity.

Meanwhile, Rajkot Airport will see the commencement of a direct flight to Hyderabad, improving connectivity between the two cities. However, the previously announced international flights from Rajkot, initially slated for October, have been postponed.

With the launch of these new routes during the winter season, a significant increase in passenger traffic is expected. This expansion will also contribute to the economic growth of both Surat and Rajkot, facilitating better connectivity for business and tourism.
