Surat Creates History with Asia’s Largest Shri Ram Rangoli

Surat: Once again, Surat has made a mark in the field of art. On January 19, 2024, in honor of the grand construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, a magnificent Shri Ram Rangoli, spanning 11,111 square feet, was created at the Katargam Community Center in Surat. This grand artwork has now earned a prestigious place in the Asia Book of Records.

A team of 40 female artists dedicated 12 hours of hard work and used 1,400 kilograms of colors to create this masterpiece. Guided by Mehendi artist Nimisha Parekh, the Rangoli presented a realistic depiction of the Ram Darbar.

In a ceremony held yesterday in Surat, former Minister of State for Textiles and Railways, Darshanaben Jardosh, honored the artists for their record-breaking Rangoli. This achievement was made possible through the collaboration of Nayanaben Katrodia’s Kalarpan Art Group and Mota Mandir Yuvak Mandal.

Speaking about the recognition, Nayanaben Katrodia and Nimisha Parekh expressed their immense pride, saying, "Our team created this Rangoli with deep religious sentiment, and it is an honor to have it recognized by the Asia Book of Records."

This is not the first time Nimisha Parekh and her team have achieved such success. Previously, their work, *‘Mehendikrit Ramayan’*, also earned a spot in the Asia Book of Records, where 51 women from Surat portrayed 51 chapters of the Ramayana on their hands using Warli art in Mehendi form.

Recently, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel honored Nimisha Parekh with a certificate of appreciation for her creative blend of art and devotion in *‘Mehendikrit Ramayan’*. This achievement by Surat is not only a matter of pride for the city but for the entire nation, symbolizing dedication to the art and patriotic spirit.
