Gujarat to Celebrate 'Vikas Week' from October 7-15 to Mark 23 Years of Narendra Modi's Leadership

Ahmedabad, October 6 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the oath as the 14th Chief Minister of Gujarat on October 7, 2001. This year, October 7 will mark the completion of 23 years of his leadership. To commemorate this milestone and highlight the achievements since Narendra Modi's tenure as CM, the state will celebrate ‘Vikas Week’ from October 7 to 15, 2024.

In a cabinet meeting held on Sunday, under the leadership of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, the state acknowledged and expressed gratitude for Narendra Modi's significant contributions to the global and all-around development of Gujarat. The government announced that the ‘Vikas Week’ will be an annual celebration of the milestones in development and good governance achieved since 2001.

Health Minister Rishikesh Patel, the state's spokesperson, shared details about the various programs that will be organized during the ‘Vikas Week’. The week will involve numerous activities and cultural programs across Gujarat, involving local artists and citizens. Social and digital media will also see active participation with citizens sharing their experiences of Modi's governance and its impact on their lives using the hashtag ‘Vikas Week’.

Development March at 23 Iconic Sites

A ‘Vikas Padyatra’ (Development March) will be organized at 23 iconic sites across Gujarat to familiarize citizens with Narendra Modi's pivotal contributions to the state's progress. Locations such as the Statue of Unity, Sabarmati Riverfront, Surat Diamond Bourse, Nadabet, Pavagarh, Shyamji Krishna Verma Memorial, Smriti Van, Ambaji, Dwarka Sudarshan Bridge, and the Pal Dadwava Tribal Martyrs Memorial are among the sites chosen for the march.

Additionally, schools and colleges will host essay competitions based on development themes to engage students and youth in this celebration. The state government has planned wall paintings, the inauguration and foundation-laying of development projects worth ₹3,500 crores, and various thematic days to highlight progress during the week.

A New Chapter in Gujarat's Development

Minister Patel emphasized that the 23-year period has been a transformative era for Gujarat, marked by Modi's leadership in governance and development. Now, the state's focus will shift to achieving the vision of a ‘Developed India by 2047’, as outlined by Prime Minister Modi, by making Gujarat a model of development. Under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel's leadership, the state government has committed to celebrating ‘Vikas Week’ annually in a planned and structured manner to continue Gujarat's growth story.
