Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman Arrives in Uzbekistan for AIIB Board of Governors Meeting

Tashkent/New Delhi, September 24: Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman arrived at Tashkent International Airport in Uzbekistan on Tuesday to participate in the 9th Annual Meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Board of Governors.

According to a statement from the Finance Minister's office shared on 'X', Minister Sitharaman is on a five-day official visit to Tashkent to attend the AIIB meeting. She was welcomed at the airport by India’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Smita Pant, along with senior officials from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade, as well as the Director of Alok Bank.

Minister Sitharaman's visit from September 24 to 28, 2024, will see her engage in the 9th Annual Meeting of the AIIB Board of Governors. She is accompanied by a delegation of officials from the Ministry of Finance.
