Surat Police Strengthens Security Measures for Navratri Amid Focus on Women's Safety
Surat: As the Navratri festival approaches, Surat police have tightened security arrangements, with a special focus on women's safety following the recent Rajkot incident. The Surat Police Commissioner has issued a notification outlining several directives for event organizers to ensure a safe celebration.
This year, a special police team in traditional attire will be deployed at various Garba venues to ensure the safety of women participating in the festivities. In addition, a dedicated helpline number has been issued for women, enabling them to seek help in emergencies. The police have assured that they will respond within minutes of receiving any distress call.
To further enhance security, Surat police will utilize mounted officers and drone surveillance. Additionally, bike patrols and officers equipped with body-worn cameras will be stationed throughout the city to maintain a visible and effective presence.
Event organizers have been given strict instructions to conduct thorough inspections of their structures before being granted permission. They are also required to submit emergency and fire safety plans as part of their event approvals.
"We have learned from the Rajkot incident and have taken comprehensive steps to ensure security this year. Our top priority is the safety of women, and we are committed to providing a safe and peaceful environment for everyone to enjoy the Navratri celebrations," said the Surat Police Commissioner.
