India Steady at 88/3 Against Bangladesh in First Test at Chennai
Chennai – On the opening day of the first Test between India and Bangladesh at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, India reached 88 for 3 at lunch. Yashasvi Jaiswal (37*) and Rishabh Pant (33*) were at the crease, having stitched a crucial 54-run partnership for the fourth wicket to stabilize India's innings after early setbacks.
Winning the toss on a green pitch favorable for fast bowlers, Bangladesh opted to bowl first. The decision paid off early as Hasan Mahmud rattled the Indian top order, dismissing captain Rohit Sharma (6), Shubman Gill (0), and Virat Kohli (6) with just 34 runs on the board.
Pant came in ahead of KL Rahul at number five and, alongside Jaiswal, steadied the Indian innings. Although Pant survived a scare when Shadman Islam dropped a catch just before lunch, the duo managed to steer India away from further trouble. Jaiswal remained solid, carefully choosing which deliveries to play.
With the pitch expected to ease up and become better for batting as the game progresses, India will be hoping for a bigger partnership from Jaiswal and Pant in the next session.
