Six Killed, Four Injured in Head-On Collision in Dhule District
Accident Near Daswel Kanta in Shindkheda; Police Search for Absconding Pickup Driver Allegedly Under Influence
Mumbai — In a tragic incident on Saturday night, six people lost their lives and four were seriously injured in a head-on collision between a Bolero car and a pickup truck near Daswel Kanta in Shindkheda Tehsil of Dhule district. The injured have been admitted to the Dhule District Hospital for treatment. A team from Shindkheda Police Station arrived at the scene promptly after receiving information and is currently investigating the matter.
According to police reports, ten individuals from a village in Shindkheda were traveling in a Bolero car to attend a Bhagwat Katha (a religious discourse) in Nardana. After the event, they were returning home around 2 a.m. on Saturday night when, near Daswel Kanta, a speeding goods pickup truck collided head-on with their vehicle. Five occupants of the Bolero died on the spot, while one succumbed to injuries en route to the hospital.
The four seriously injured passengers are undergoing treatment at Dhule District Hospital. Eyewitnesses claim that the driver of the pickup truck was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident and fled the scene immediately afterward. Shindkheda police have launched a manhunt for the absconding driver.
Local authorities have expressed deep sorrow over the incident and are urging anyone with information to come forward. The police are also appealing to motorists to exercise caution on the roads, especially during nighttime, to prevent such tragic accidents.
