Nepal Joins International Solar Alliance as 101st Member

Kathmandu – Nepal has become the 101st member of the International Solar Alliance (ISA), an intergovernmental organization aimed at promoting solar energy. The membership agreement was signed on Wednesday at a ceremony in New Delhi. The ISA was jointly launched by India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former French President François Hollande.

At the signing ceremony, Nepal's acting Ambassador to India, Surendra Thapa, represented the country, while Abhishek Singh, Joint Secretary of the Economic Diplomacy and Multilateral Economic Relations Division of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, was also present. The agreement marks Nepal’s official entry into the global alliance.

Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal welcomed Nepal’s membership, emphasizing that it aligns with India’s “Neighborhood First” policy. Thapa expressed his gratitude, noting that it is a privilege for Nepal to participate in this global initiative led by Prime Minister Modi.

The alliance's goal is to enhance cooperation in solar energy deployment across member countries, contributing to sustainable energy solutions worldwide.
