PM Modi Inaugurates Semicon India 2024, Highlights India’s Push in Semiconductor Industry

Greater Noida  – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the *Semicon India 2024* at the India Expo Mart, Greater Noida. In his opening remarks, PM Modi emphasized that this is the right time for India to emerge as a major player in the global semiconductor industry, stating, "You are at the right place at the right time."

Addressing the gathering, Modi stressed the trust and reliability that 21st-century India offers to the world. Drawing an analogy to a semiconductor diode, he remarked, "Just as energy flows in both directions in a diode, the relationship between entrepreneurs and the government works similarly."

He pointed out India’s rapidly growing influence in the global semiconductor design space, with the country contributing around 20% to the global designing sector. "India’s focus is on students and skilled individuals, and we are taking significant steps to ensure India plays a pivotal role in semiconductor manufacturing," Modi stated.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting the semiconductor industry through subsidies and financial aid, with several projects already in the pipeline. "This year, from the Red Fort, I declared our dream that every device in the world should have an Indian-made chip. India is committed to doing everything necessary to achieve that."

Modi further revealed that efforts are underway to establish a semiconductor center at the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology to bolster the industry’s growth in India.

The *Semicon India 2024* event, held from September 11 to 13, is a three-day conference that gathers experts, leaders, and stakeholders from across the globe. The inauguration was attended by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister Jitin Prasada, and other dignitaries.

This event marks a significant step in India's ambition to strengthen its position in the global semiconductor supply chain.
