Surat Secures First Place in National Clean Air Survey, Awarded ₹1.5 Crore Prize

Surat: In a historic achievement in the field of environmental conservation, Surat has claimed the top spot in the Clean Air Survey organized by the central government. This accomplishment is a matter of great pride for the residents of Surat and the local administration.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and BJP's Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav presented the award to Surat's Mayor Dakshesh Mavani and Municipal Commissioner Shalini Agrawal. Along with the recognition, the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) was awarded a prize of ₹1.5 crore.

This achievement is the result of sustained efforts by the Surat Municipal Corporation under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s *Swachh Bharat Abhiyan* and the leadership of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Minister of Jal Shakti, C.R. Patil. The SMC has taken several commendable steps, including solid waste management, road dust control, scientific disposal of construction waste, vehicle emission control, reduction of industrial emissions, awareness campaigns, and improvements in air quality.

This milestone has been made possible through the combined efforts of MPs, MLAs, councilors, elected representatives, commissioners, and the entire Surat Municipal Corporation team, along with the active participation of the city's residents.

Mayor Dakshesh Mavani, while congratulating the people of Surat, expressed his pride in the city's accomplishment, stating, "This award is a moment of pride for every resident of Surat. We are all committed to transforming Surat into a world-class city." He dedicated the achievement to all the citizens of Surat.

Municipal Commissioner Shalini Agrawal echoed the sentiment, dedicating the award to Surat’s residents, emphasizing that such success would not have been possible without their cooperation.
