Allergy and Immunotherapy Clinic Inaugurated at Surat’s New Civil Hospital

Free Diagnosis and Treatment of Respiratory Allergies to Benefit Patients Across South Gujarat

Allergy and Immunotherapy Clinic Inaugurated at Surat’s New Civil Hospital

Surat: Union Minister of Jal Shakti, C.R. Patil, inaugurated the Allergy and Immunotherapy Clinic at OPD No. 11 of Surat’s New Civil Hospital. The clinic will offer diagnostic and treatment services for allergies every Tuesday and Friday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Conditions such as cold, cough, and various respiratory allergies will now be treated free of cost at this new facility.

During the inauguration, the Union Minister praised the hospital’s doctors for their consistent service and building trust among the people. He highlighted that the new clinic would provide free allergy treatment to patients not only in Surat but across South Gujarat. In private hospitals, allergy diagnosis and treatment can cost between ₹1.5 lakh to ₹2 lakh, which will now be available for free at New Civil Hospital.

The clinic will diagnose allergies using a "screen prick test," where patients’ symptoms will be analyzed considering allergens like dust mites, fleas, molds, foods (such as peanuts, milk, and eggs), and pet dander from animals like cats and dogs. A drop of allergen will be applied to the skin on the hand or head, and a lancet will be used to administer a small prick. The results will be available within 10 to 15 minutes. This free service will significantly aid patients suffering from cold, cough, and other respiratory allergies.

It was emphasized that the cost of treating allergies over a span of two to five years in private hospitals could range from ₹1.5 lakh to ₹2 lakh, which patients can now avoid by visiting the New Civil Hospital’s Allergy and Immunotherapy Clinic.

Prominent attendees at the event included former Additional Director Dr. Vikasben Desai, former Standing Committee Chairman Pareshbhai Patel, Medical College Dean Dr. Jayesh Brahmbhatt, Medical Superintendent Dr. Dharitri Parmar, RMO Dr. Ketan Nayak, Head of Chest Department Dr. Parul Vadgama, Nursing Council’s Iqbal Karivala, Dr. Paresh Kothari, SMCA and IMA President Deacon Shastri, and RSS leaders Dineshbhai Patel and Nanduji Sharma, along with other key doctors and nursing staff.
