Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel Introduces New Regulations for Gaming Activity Areas

Ahmedabad – Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has taken a crucial step in addressing the growing trend of gaming activities across the state. In a move aimed at ensuring public safety and welfare, the Chief Minister has introduced key amendments to the Comprehensive General Development Control Regulations (CGDCR) to regulate the planning and development of gaming activity areas.

With gaming zones proliferating in independent locations, as well as within commercial spaces like shopping malls and complexes, these areas have drawn large crowds, raising concerns about public safety. The newly introduced regulations set distinct planning guidelines for both independent gaming activity zones and those housed within commercial establishments.

Key provisions introduced by CM Patel under the CGDCR include specific guidelines regarding road width, minimum area requirements, building height, parking facilities, and safety measures. Additionally, the regulations mandate the need for various No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from relevant authorities. Notably, independent gaming zones must also provide separate entry and exit points, emergency exits, and designated refuge areas to enhance public safety.

Moreover, the new rules specify that gaming zones must prominently display essential certificates, including Building Use (BU) certificates, Fire NOCs, and all necessary licenses and permits. Importantly, buildings that have already obtained development or BU permissions will be required to apply for revised approvals in compliance with the new regulations before commencing operations.

To ensure adherence to the rules, Chief Minister Patel has directed the introduction of penalties for those found operating without the necessary permissions. The recent fire incident at Rajkot's TRP Game Zone underscored the need for distinct planning regulations for gaming activity areas, prompting the CM to implement these stringent guidelines in the public interest.

This move marks a significant step toward enhancing public safety and streamlining the development of gaming activity zones across Gujarat.
