Theft at a Housing Society in Varachha, Surat During Paryushan Festival

Surat : In a distressing event in Surat's Varachha area near Bombay Market, a housing society witnessed a major theft. The incident occurred while the residents, the Kothari family, were away at Jain temple for the Paryushan festival's Pratikraman rituals. Taking advantage of the empty house, thieves broke in and stole 5.25 lakh INR in cash and 30 tolas of gold jewelry.

Manisha Kothari, the victim, reported that upon returning home around 10 PM, everything seemed normal, and the family went to sleep without noticing any disturbances. However, the following morning, they discovered their wardrobe broken into and valuables missing. The subtlety of the break-in suggests that the thieves were potentially familiar with the house, as there was no evident disarray in other parts of the home.

Local police are investigating the incident thoroughly, noting the thieves’ clever tactics. They are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area in hopes of identifying the culprits. The police suspect that the theft may have been orchestrated by someone acquainted with the victims' home.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are hopeful for a quick resolution to help the Kothari family recover from this significant loss.
