Surat : Major Delivery Associations Back 65 Kg Parcel Weight Limit Rule Citing Worker Health and Safety Concerns

Surat — In a significant development within Surat's textile market, all major delivery industry associations have collectively supported the newly imposed rule limiting parcel weights to 65 kilograms. The organizations endorsing this decision include the Grey Cloth Transport Association, Surat City Tempo Owners and Drivers Welfare Association, and the Mill Tempo Delivery Contract Association.

In a joint statement issued on Saturday, these associations emphasized that requiring workers to carry heavier loads poses serious health risks. They hailed the new weight limit as a commendable step from a humanitarian perspective.

Shravansingh Thakur, President of the Surat City Tempo Owners and Drivers Welfare Association, and Rajendra Upadhyay, President of the Mill Tempo Delivery Contract Association, stated, "We all unanimously agree that the 65 kg weight limit is in the best interest of the laborers."

It is noteworthy that both FOSTTA (Federation of Surat Textile Associations) and the Transport Association had already accepted this rule. Circulars have been distributed to market management and transporters, and posters have been placed in various market and transport locations to ensure compliance with the new regulations.
