Ranjit Babu, who was visiting Surat with his wife Sitara to purchase textiles, fell to his death from the seventh floor of the hotel due to an elevator door suddenly opening. The hotel official reported that the accident happened as Babu was descending in the elevator, which unexpectedly opened its door, causing him to fall into the shaft.

Allegations of Negligence

Sitara, the deceased's wife, has accused the hotel management of negligence, stating that the elevator had been in poor condition for a long time and had not been adequately maintained. She has demanded stern action against the hotel management for their oversight.

Police Investigation Underway

Upon receiving the information, police promptly arrived at the scene to commence their investigation. They have requested maintenance records of the elevator from the hotel management, who have pledged full cooperation with the police inquiry. DCP Bhagirath Garhvi informed that the Salabatpura police are handling the investigation.
