In 2016, Sooraj made a bold transition to feature films with his debut, Pa.Va (Pappanekurichum Varkiyekurichum). This film, a delightful mix of humour and poignant drama, showcased his talent for weaving intricate stories that resonate with audiences, marking his entry into the Malayalam film industry.

Two years later, Sooraj directed his second feature film, Ente Mezhuthiri Athazhangal (EMA). With EMA, Sooraj proved his versatility, seamlessly handling different genres with finesse.

In 2021, Sooraj ventured into the thriller genre with Krishnankutty Pani Thudangi. Sooraj’s latest project, Vishesham, released in 2024, tackles the sensitive subject of fertility treatments with a touch of empathy and sweetness. The film has been lauded for its thoughtful portrayal of a topic often shrouded in silence, bringing to light the emotional journeys of those involved. Vishesham also garnered attention for its unconventional casting choice, featuring Anand Madhusoodanan—a music composer and writer—in his acting debut as the lead, breaking away from traditional hero archetypes.
