Surat's Textile Industry Embraces Embroidery Amid Expanding Market

Surat – Surat, known for its expansive textile trade, is witnessing a significant shift towards the garment industry, with an increasing demand for embroidery machines due to the rising trend of embellished garments. This shift is evident in the local industry's rapid adoption of sophisticated embroidery technology, representing a promising future for Surat's textile businesses.

Increased Demand for Embroidery Machines

Manvendra Pratap Singh from Elais Embroidery Machine reported a surge in demand for Mini Sifli and 23/400 machines, known for their capabilities in handling complex designs on a variety of garments including suits, lehengas, and sarees. "These machines come in several qualities, incorporating features like multi-coating and sequences, which are crucial for detailed garment work," Singh explained. The Mini Sifli machines are specifically designed for full garment embroidery, while the 23/400 machines, priced around $65,000, can handle a broader range of fabrics with different stitching needs.

Foreseeing a Bright Future in Embroidery

Over the past 20 days, Singh has observed a robust order intake for each machine, indicating a strong market trajectory. "If Surat’s textile traders continue to pivot towards garment production, the embroidery sector will experience significant growth," he added. This optimistic outlook is driving local businesses to invest in new machines, with many importing from China, where quality has seen considerable improvements.

Growing Market for Cutting and Stitching Machines

Yogendra Singh, another player in the embroidery industry, highlighted the demand for laser machines, which are priced between approximately 23 to 24 lakh rupees. "These machines can accommodate additional devices, enhancing their utility in fabric cutting and designing," Singh noted. The demand spans across cutting and stitching machines, with significant imports from China, Switzerland, Japan, and Germany. "The quality improvement in Chinese machines has led most businesses to prefer them, although Swiss machines, particularly those from brands like Laser and Solar, remain in high demand due to their superior technology."

As Surat’s textile market continues to evolve, the integration of advanced embroidery and cutting technologies is set to redefine the industry, promising enhanced productivity and creativity in garment manufacturing.
