New Delhi - Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephonic conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday. The discussion covered a range of topics, including bilateral relations and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

According to the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), Modi recalled his successful visit to Russia last month for the 22nd India-Russia Bilateral Summit. The leaders reviewed the progress on several bilateral issues and discussed measures to strengthen the special and privileged strategic partnership between India and Russia.

The conversation also touched on various regional and global issues of mutual interest. Both leaders exchanged views on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, with Prime Minister Modi sharing insights from his recent visit to Ukraine. He emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomacy among all stakeholders to achieve a prompt, sustainable, and peaceful resolution to the conflict.

As per the PMO, the leaders agreed to remain in contact and continue their engagement on these critical issues. Modi also shared a post on X platform stating, "Spoke to President Putin today. Discussed measures to strengthen our special and privileged strategic partnership. Exchanged views on the Russia-Ukraine conflict and shared insights from my recent visit to Ukraine. Reaffirmed India's strong commitment to supporting a quick, sustainable, and peaceful resolution."

It is noteworthy that Prime Minister Modi recently met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv. This meeting was aimed at furthering efforts towards a peaceful resolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, showcasing India's commitment to peace and stability in the region.
