Surat Police Raid Counterfeit Factory Near Sarthana, Seize Goods Worth Rs 4.39 Lakh

In a significant crackdown on counterfeit goods production, Surat police have seized fake branded items valued at Rs 4.39 lakh from a factory situated just a short distance from the Sarthana police station. The factory was reportedly producing counterfeit versions of well-known brands such as Dettol and Harpic.
Acting on a tip from the affected companies, the police conducted a raid and discovered a large quantity of raw materials and duplicate products. This action is part of a wider effort to combat the proliferation of counterfeit manufacturing facilities in Surat city and district.
Authorities confirmed that the factory was operating without the necessary approvals from the Food and Drug Regulatory Authority, leading to an immediate investigation. During the raid, officers also recovered a substantial amount of fake Dettol liquid among other counterfeit products.
Following the discovery, company officials lodged a formal complaint against the factory owner, Prakashbhai Mohanbhai Molya, at the Sarthana police station. The complaint includes charges of copyright infringement among other offenses. Molya has been arrested, and police are currently conducting further interrogations to uncover more details about the operations of this illicit enterprise.
This raid underscores the ongoing challenges and the steps being taken by local authorities to curb illegal manufacturing and protect consumer rights in the region.
