Gujarat State Transport Corporation (GSRTC) modernizes fleet and infrastructure with over Rs 166 crore investment, inaugurates new buses, stations, and depots.
Ahmedabad – Gujarat State Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has embarked on an ambitious modernization drive under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, revitalizing the state's public transportation system. Over the past one and a half years, GSRTC has invested more than Rs 166 crore in new buses, state-of-the-art bus stations, and depot infrastructure, significantly enhancing the travel experience for millions of passengers.
This transformation is rooted in a campaign initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his tenure as Gujarat's Chief Minister in 2001, aimed at rejuvenating public corporations in the state, including GSRTC. Today, the corporation stands as a testament to the success of these efforts, providing modern and efficient transportation services across Gujarat.
GSRTC has added 2,800 new buses to its fleet since December 2022, including 55 iconic double-decker electric buses that now operate between Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad, attracting widespread attention and appreciation from passengers. In addition to these buses, 18 new bus stations and depots have been inaugurated, with the foundation stone laid for 20 more.
The corporation's commitment to innovation is further evident in its focus on environmental sustainability. By introducing electric buses, GSRTC is actively contributing to Gujarat's Green Revolution, reducing the carbon footprint of public transportation in the state.

The modernization of GSRTC is not only enhancing passenger convenience but also creating employment opportunities, with over 10,000 drivers, conductors, mechanical, and administrative staff set to be recruited.
