Father of State Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi Passes Away; Prominent Leaders Attend Prayer Meet

Surat — Rameshchandra Sanghvi, the father of Gujarat State Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi, passed away on Saturday after a prolonged illness. He was 72 years old and had been admitted to a private hospital in Surat for the last four days, where he breathed his last. Rameshchandra Sanghvi was a retired diamond merchant and was actively engaged in religious and social activities.

A prayer meeting was organized on Sunday afternoon at the Indoor Stadium in Surat to honor his memory. The event saw the attendance of prominent leaders and political figures from the Jain community. Among those present were Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, industrialist Gautam Adani, Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Patil, and several local MLAs and ministers. Tight security arrangements were in place due to the presence of the Chief Minister.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and various Jain Acharyas sent their condolences, which were read aloud during the prayer meeting. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel paid floral tributes and expressed his condolences to the bereaved family, offering prayers for the departed soul. After spending about 20 minutes at the venue, CM Patel left for Gandhinagar.

Rameshchandra Sanghvi is survived by his wife, Devendraben, son Harsh Sanghvi, daughter-in-law Prachi Sanghvi, grandchildren Aarush and Nirva, and daughters Nehal, Kinjal, Kajal, and Honeyben. 

The prayer meeting saw a significant turnout, with many people from Harsh Sanghvi's Majura assembly constituency and a large number of workers attending between 3 pm and 5 pm to pay their respects.
