Gujarat Anganwadi Sisters Send Over One Lakh Rakhis to Soldiers on Rakshabandhan

Ahmedabad — In a heartfelt gesture on the occasion of Rakshabandhan, the Anganwadi sisters of Gujarat have sent a protective shield of over one lakh Rakhis to the soldiers safeguarding the country's borders. On Saturday, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel handed over these Rakhi urns to army officers, symbolizing the state's gratitude and solidarity with the soldiers.

Soldiers stationed on the country's borders often spend festivals away from their families. To bring a sense of belonging and brother-sister love to these brave soldiers on Rakshabandhan, Gujarat has launched the initiative 'Ek Rakhi Desh Ke Jawanon Ke Naam'. As part of this initiative, the sisters of 53,000 Anganwadis across the state have collectively sent more than 103,000 Rakhis to the soldiers.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, along with Women and Child Welfare Minister Bhanuben Babaria, presented the Rakhi urns to Lieutenant Colonel Rakesh Kumar and Sub Major General Santosh Kamte of the 16 Maratha Light Infantry. These Rakhis, along with heartfelt wishes and prayers for the soldiers' long lives, will be delivered to those on the front lines.

The event, held as part of the Kalash Arpan program, was attended by Secretary and Commissioner of Women and Child Development Department Rakesh Shankar, ICDS Commissioner Ranjit Kumar Singh, Deputy Secretary of the Department Kumudben Yagnik, and several Anganwadi workers and supervisors.
