Prime Minister Modi to Attend Saurashtra-Tamil Sangam Program on April 26

Ahmedabad - Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Gujarat on April 26 to attend the Saurashtra-Tamil Sangam program, following the cancellation of his earlier scheduled visit on April 17. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will now attend the event on April 17 in the Prime Minister's stead.

The initial cancellation of Prime Minister Modi's visit on April 17 was due to a meeting with a foreign delegation and the Karnataka elections. The Saurashtra Tamil Sangam event, which aims to honor those who have migrated from the Saurashtra region of Gujarat and settled in Tamil Nadu, was announced on March 19 in Chennai. The event's logo, theme song, and registration portal were unveiled at the launch, with over 10,000 people registering within 24 hours.

The program on April 17 will proceed as planned, with Defense Minister Rajnath Singh in attendance. The Saurashtra-Tamil Sangam serves as a platform for cultural exchange between the two states, celebrating the shared history and connections between the people of Gujarat and Tamil Nadu.

In light of the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has begun preparations, making Prime Minister Modi's visit to Gujarat particularly significant. The Prime Minister's attendance at the Saurashtra-Tamil Sangam program is expected to play a strategic role in planning for the elections.
